It's not really a game; while there are gamified elements, like acquiring different Spirits and buying different clothes or decorations with credits, the main purpose of it is to help you focus on whatever you need to. You can either play built-in playlists from Lofi Girl and Homework Radio (although the Homework Radio ones are apparently leaving in August 2028), or play whatever you like on YouTube in the "external" player. I usually do playlists of Minecraft music, although I imagine you could even put on a video essay if you wanted to. There are also various productivity features, like a Pomodoro timer, a stopwatch, a to-do list, a journal, etc. Along with that, you can customize different kinds of ambient noise, some of which change the environment; you can choose different decorations and clothing items; you can bring the different Spirits you collect as companions, doing whatever activity you'd like. I've also bought all of the DLCs, which add even more Spirits, activities, and places to decorate. I wouldn't recommend treating this as a game first and foremost. There aren't an overwhelming number of Spirits to collect, and though it takes a while to collect them, it's not a huge amount of time. It's just really nice to have a space in the screen that's my own, that I can customize as I like to help me focus. I think it might be even nicer if you have multiple screens, so you can keep looking back at your Spiritographer self, but I find it works fine with just the one. This game also works with Proton for Linux, as that's what I'm using! All in all, I would say this is an 8.5 out of 10. It's not perfect - some of the animations are a bit lacking and I wish the to-do list was more customizable, and that the stopwatch counted towards "focus time" - but overall, it's a really fun, good-looking, relaxing focus tool. My playtime isn’t immense yet, but definitely grab it if you’re hesitating like I did for the longest time. So many neat utilities, music to choose from and ways to customize the space and avatar. I love little things like this where I can just customize stuff and put on some music for hanging out, taking a nap, etc. I could also see how helpful it could be for people who like to use lo-fi for focusing on something and want something aesthetically pleasing on the screen. The only disappointment is in myself for not getting it sooner.

It gives me that multitasking feeling without being overly distractive and I get a little treat of a new spirit just for doing what I need to be doing anyway. I do wish that I could listen to the Lofi Boy songs/stream instead of just the lofi girl because I prefer synthwave for productivity way more.

Great game to help keep me in task. Love putting this in in the background while working on projects.

very sweet idler with loads of customisation options!!! had a short-lived hyperfixation on the spirits in the game so that was fun too lol! genuinely absolutely lovely to play, and the he/they rep with lenny is really sweet!!! ofc expect a productivity tool and not a game etc etc, but if you're neurodivergent i can def recommend!! ^w^ i will say though, it IS resource-heavy, which is a pain. also, idk if it's related or not, but my computer started getting REALLY laggy recently, and that started a few weeks after playing it loads (i would... admittedly leave it on overnight to be able to get loads of the in game currency too lol, so honestly that one IS probably on me, buttttt i wanted to mention it just in case that could be an issue for anyone else's computers! again, PROBABLY MY BAD JHKHKJHKH I'M NOT TRYING TO BLAME THE GAME UNNECESSARILY, but the one thing i know is true is that it's resource-heavy, so bear that in mind at least lolll! would say the devs should def optimise the game as much as possible) <3333 you can tell this is a passion project, and i love it for that!! Simplesmente o jogo definitivo para quem quer fingir que está estudando enquanto passa 3 horas escolhendo a posição ideal de uma plantinha virtual, nunca antes na história da humanidade alguém procrastinou com tanta organização e estética. Você abre o jogo pensando “agora vou focar nas minhas tarefas” e, de repente, está há 40 minutos ajustando iluminação, chuva, trilha lo-fi e roupa do personagem pra criar o ambiente perfeito… pra continuar não estudando. Os espíritos fofinhos também ajudam muito, porque nada aumenta mais a produtividade do que parar tudo pra procurar um bichinho escondido enquanto a lista de tarefas te observa em silêncio. O jogo vende a ideia de foco, mas na prática ele transforma qualquer pessoa em um decorador profissional de quarto fictício, em vez de terminar trabalho da faculdade, você sai especialista em criar “vibes” e o pior é que funciona: somehow você realmente sente vontade de abrir um PDF depois de deixar o ambiente absurdamente aconchegante. Uma experiência revolucionária onde arrumar um quarto virtual parece mais importante que arrumar a própria vida real. Estudei por 12 minutos e organizei almofadas digitais por 300 horas. 10/10

Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is an amazing focus tool. It's not really a game; while there are gamified elements, like acquiring different Spirits and buying different clothes or decorations with credits, the main purpose of it is to help you focus on whatever you need to. You can either play built-in playlists from Lofi Girl and Homework Radio (although the Homework Radio ones are apparently leaving in August 2028), or play whatever you like on YouTube in the "external" player. I usually do playlists of Minecraft music, although I imagine you could even put on a video essay if you wanted to. There are also various productivity features, like a Pomodoro timer, a stopwatch, a to-do list, a journal, etc. Along with that, you can customize different kinds of ambient noise, some of which change the environment; you can choose different decorations and clothing items; you can bring the different Spirits you collect as companions, doing whatever activity you'd like. I've also bought all of the DLCs, which add even more Spirits, activities, and places to decorate. I wouldn't recommend treating this as a game first and foremost. There aren't an overwhelming number of Spirits to collect, and though it takes a while to collect them, it's not a huge amount of time. It's just really nice to have a space in the screen that's my own, that I can customize as I like to help me focus. I think it might be even nicer if you have multiple screens, so you can keep looking back at your Spiritographer self, but I find it works fine with just the one. This game also works with Proton for Linux, as that's what I'm using! All in all, I would say this is an 8.5 out of 10. It's not perfect - some of the animations are a bit lacking and I wish the to-do list was more customizable, and that the stopwatch counted towards "focus time" - but overall, it's a really fun, good-looking, relaxing focus tool. My playtime isn’t immense yet, but definitely grab it if you’re hesitating like I did for the longest time. So many neat utilities, music to choose from and ways to customize the space and avatar. I love little things like this where I can just customize stuff and put on some music for hanging out, taking a nap, etc. I could also see how helpful it could be for people who like to use lo-fi for focusing on something and want something aesthetically pleasing on the screen. The only disappointment is in myself for not getting it sooner.

This is such a nice companion to have while I'm working at home all day. It gives me that multitasking feeling without being overly distractive and I get a little treat of a new spirit just for doing what I need to be doing anyway. I do wish that I could listen to the Lofi Boy songs/stream instead of just the lofi girl because I prefer synthwave for productivity way more.

Great game to help keep me in task. Love putting this in in the background while working on projects.

very sweet idler with loads of customisation options!!! had a short-lived hyperfixation on the spirits in the game so that was fun too lol! genuinely absolutely lovely to play, and the he/they rep with lenny is really sweet!!! ofc expect a productivity tool and not a game etc etc, but if you're neurodivergent i can def recommend!! ^w^ i will say though, it IS resource-heavy, which is a pain. also, idk if it's related or not, but my computer started getting REALLY laggy recently, and that started a few weeks after playing it loads (i would... admittedly leave it on overnight to be able to get loads of the in game currency too lol, so honestly that one IS probably on me, buttttt i wanted to mention it just in case that could be an issue for anyone else's computers! again, PROBABLY MY BAD JHKHKJHKH I'M NOT TRYING TO BLAME THE GAME UNNECESSARILY, but the one thing i know is true is that it's resource-heavy, so bear that in mind at least lolll! would say the devs should def optimise the game as much as possible) <3333 you can tell this is a passion project, and i love it for that!!
